  Title of this week's WT study lesson: 'Serve the God of Freedom'. Yet the following list of WT No's was ringing in my head:

  No toasting, no holding hands and embracing at meetings during prayer and song, no higher education, no associating with disfellowshipped, no birthdays, no blood, no masturbating, no holiday celebrations, no beards, no worldly friends, no politics, no flag salute, no dating, no after school sports, no women teachers in the congregation, no overtime at work, no charitable work, no interfaith, no tolerance of gay lifestyle, no Sparlock, No! No! No!

  Rumor Elders Will Receive Name Badges For Every Meeting.

  i keep hearing rumors elders are going to be getting permanent badge cards to wear to every meeting.

  one excited brother told me, "it would be nice if new ones to the kingdom hall could see who their shepherds are.

  there is a great surge in activity, new bible students will be able to locate the proper elder in charge of bible studies!

  Family worship night was copied from Mormons. If there is any truth to this ‘rumor', Elder and Ministerial Servant name badges will also be something borrowed from the Mormons.

  Jehovah’s Witnesses more and more seem to walk in the shadows of the Mormon faith.

  the past two week's worth of wt studies have made a couple points that appear contradictory in nature.

  yesterday was too much, i felt at least.

  either there's another faction within the writing department fighting for the equivalent of airtime in the literature, or they're all so indoctrinated that they fail to see the irony in what they publish.. for instance, take paragraph 5 from last week's lesson.. 5. unlike the law codes of many countries, "the perfect law" is neither complex nor burdensome but consists of simple commandements and principles.

  Elephant comments: ... ’are you explaining that you yourself are being micromanaged or that others are being micromanaged to their ill effect?’

  There is no doubt in my mind that WT micromanages its’ members. Part of the definition of micromanages is: “Micromanagement also frequently involves requests for unnecessary and overly detailed reports ”

  JWs are required to fill out monthly detailed reports of their field service activity: amount of time witnessing; magazine and other literature placement (whether brochures or books); number of return visits made; number of Bible studies conducted; etc etc etc .

  Failure to turn such reports in will result in being placed on an inactive list and loss of privileges in the congregation.

  If that ain’t micromanagement of an individual with an ill effect what is?

  i was surprised that no one cited isaiah 43:10: .

  you are my witnesses, is the utterance of jehovah, even my servant whom i have chosen, in order that you may know and have faith in me, and that you may understand that i am the same one.

  How about ‘Jehovah’s Speculators’ instead of ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses.’

  After all they do get far more speculating done than witnessing!

  Watchtower honors Jehovah's Witness Elders responsible for Candice Conti and Menlo Park Fiascos

  this weekend was the convention for the southern san francisco bay area.

  it was held at the santa clara convention center in the silicon valley http://www.santaclara.org/conventioncenter/ which is an improvement over the old s.f.

  cow palace which is still used..just not as much.

  WTs honoring this character Gary Abrahamson by having him give a recent DC baptismal talk shows how hard-up the WTBTS organization is for elders. My hope is that both Gary Abrahamson and the WT organization get what they deserve one day soon. Amen!

  IMO the paragraph that proved to be the real winner in this WT study lesson is par #5. In part it says:

  ‘The perfect law has no need for a long list of sanctions, or penalties for it is founded on love and is engraved on minds and hearts, not on tablets of stone.’

  Whoever wrote this article is unaware of the 2010 142 page 'Shepherd The Flock of God’ elders’ manual dealing mainly with how to handle judicial matters ranging from adultery to apostasy to how to deal with those who have sex with a donkey (beastiality) to dictating how to perform a wedding.

  WT much like the Pharisees of Jesus’ day have an obsession with do’s and don’ts and a long list of sanctions and penalties if rank and file fail to comply!

  So where did Jay really find strength to overcome his enslaving smoking habit?

  In paragraphs 8 & 9, WT failed to mention; what especially helped Jay stop smoking was wearing a smokers’ nicotine patch that Satan’s world manufactures, and watching those fear instilling television commercials that Satan’s world produces of smokers dying of lung cancer.
